MeadWestvaco and CONFIDANT Partner to Develop Next-Generation Pharmaceutical Packaging Solutions

RICHMOND, VA and RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (August 21, 2007) -- MeadWestvaco Health & Beauty Packaging and CONFIDANT International, a developer of mobile communications solutions for chronic disease management, today announced a joint development agreement to create innovative, electronic-enabled pharmaceutical packaging technology solutions that support prescription adherence.

MeadWestvaco and CONFIDANT have teamed to develop pharmaceutical packaging solutions that help consumers electronically manage their medication. Combining MeadWestvaco's complete platform of packaging capabilities with CONFIDANT's mobile phone-based data collection and communication technology brings forth a variety of "smart" packaging solutions that provide benefits to patients, physicians, caregivers and the medical industry.
